The information we collect
We collect personal information when you choose to contact us, including:
- Your name
- Phone number
- Email address
- The property location or area the work relates to
- Details you send about the job, including photos if you attach them
- Records of calls, WhatsApp messages and emails
We may also hold billing details where we carry out paid work for you.
How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you call, message us on WhatsApp, or email. We do not buy mailing lists. If someone else (for example a family member) contacts us on your behalf, we will only use the details they give us for that enquiry.
Why we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide a quote
- Carry out home renovations and related trade work
- Arrange visits and keep you updated on a job
- Invoice and keep accounts
- Meet legal and tax record-keeping duties
- Handle complaints or aftercare on work we have done
Lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on:
- Contract - where we need the information to quote for, agree or carry out work you have asked us to do
- Legitimate interests - to respond to enquiries, keep records of work, and run the company in a way you would reasonably expect
- Legal obligation - where the law requires us to keep tax, accounting or similar records
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. We may share it with:
- Suppliers or other trades involved in a job you have asked us to carry out, and only as needed for that job
- Our accountant, bookkeeper or professional advisers
- HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it
- IT or hosting providers who store email or files on our behalf, under a contract that keeps the information secure
If you found us through Checkatrade, that platform has its own privacy notice for any information you give Checkatrade directly.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details that do not lead to work are kept only as long as needed to finish the conversation, then deleted within 12 months unless you ask us to keep them for a later job. Records of work, invoices and related correspondence are kept for up to six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, which is the usual period for UK accounting records. We may keep a record for longer if there is an ongoing complaint, insurance matter or legal claim.
International transfers
We are based in Edinburgh. Some email or messaging services (including WhatsApp) may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the provider's own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or a UK adequacy decision.

Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete information, in certain cases
- Ask us to restrict how we use it
- Object to use based on legitimate interests
- Ask for information you gave us to be moved to another organisation, where technically feasible and where the lawful basis is contract or consent
- Withdraw consent, where we rely on consent (we do not currently rely on consent as our main basis)
To use these rights, contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm who you are before we can act. We will respond within one month, or explain if we need longer for a complex request.
